Why your Dental Unit Waterlines Deserve More Attention Than You Think

Dental unit waterlines don't get talked about nearly as much as they should. Most offices are focused on sterilizing instruments and following infection control protocols for hands and surfaces, but the water running through your handpieces and syringes needs just as much attention. If those lines aren't properly maintained, biofilm can build up inside them, creating a breeding ground for bacteria that gets delivered straight into your patient's mouth.

The good news is this is completely manageable once you understand what to test for, how often, and what a proper maintenance routine actually looks like. I wrote an article on dental unit waterline safety, covering exactly what your team needs to know to stay compliant and keep patients safe.
